Our FDP+ Solutions

Our methodology is built on interconnected layers that together deliver a secure, scalable, and clinically robust FDP implementation, moving from ingestion to insight, and from enablement to assurance.
01. Native Foundry Engineering & Data Twin Architecture

We treat Foundry not as a visualisation layer, but as the operating system of your Data Twin. Raw–Curated–Semantic Architecture:

  • Raw Layer: Immutable ingestion zone preserving exact source data for auditability and clinical safety cases.
  • Curated Layer: Standardised, type-enforced datasets where cleaning logic is separated from business logic. Incremental ingestion strategies and schema validation prevent drift and inefficiency.
  • Semantic Layer: Optimised “Gold” datasets backing Ontology objects, enabling object-based reasoning and reducing repeated pipeline builds.
02. Canonical Data Model (CDM)

We implement a structured Core and Domain object model:

  • Core Objects: Patient, Staff Member, Location, Clinical Event — centrally governed entities ensuring semantic consistency.
  • Domain Objects:  Use-case specific objects linked to Core entities, enabling rapid innovation without duplication.
03. Advance Analyst Environment (AAE)

Standard national FDP environments are not designed for high-performance modelling. FDP+ deploys a dedicated Advance Analyst Environment (AAE) hosted on secure Microsoft Azure infrastructure.

  • High-Performance Compute: Scalable HPC resources support winter pressure simulations, theatre utilisation modelling, genomics workloads, and advanced stratification algorithms.
  • Bypassing “Fair Use” Limits: Heavy compute workloads are offloaded to Azure, preserving Foundry Compute Credits for semantic reasoning and interactive applications.
  • Code-Based Analytics:  The AAE supports Python, R, and SQL within governed environments. Secure package whitelisting allows controlled use of open-source libraries.
  • AI-Assisted Productivity: Natural language querying enables non-technical users to interrogate data in plain English. AI-driven automation supports cleansing, anomaly detection, and workflow optimisation.
  • Auto-Scaling Infrastructure: Compute resources dynamically scale based on demand, supporting mission-critical analytics without degradation.
04. Compute Arbitration Architecture
  • Foundry as the Brain: Hosting Ontology, decision logic, and operational applications.
  • Azure as the Muscle: Handling heavy compute workloads such as DICOM processing, genomics sequencing, and Monte Carlo simulations.
  • Secure Bridge Mechanism: Raw data is securely passed to Azure for processing. Only high-value outputs are ingested back into Foundry.
05. Single Point of Entry (SPoE)
  • Single Sign-On: Integrated with Azure Active Directory and NHS Identity.
  • Role-Based Views: Clinicians, analysts, executives, and managers see dynamic interfaces aligned with their role.
  • Embedded Collaboration: Microsoft Teams and SharePoint integration enables real-time discussion and document co-authoring.
  • Electronic Signatures: Digitised governance workflows reduce administrative bottlenecks and accelerate approvals.
06. Privacy Enhancing Technology & Governance
  • Automated De-Identification: Sensitive identifiers pass through configurable PET workflows before entering shared or research environments.
  • Format Preserving Encryption & SHA-256 Hashing: Consistent pseudonymisation allows longitudinal analysis while protecting identity.
  • “Leaky PID” Protection: NLP scanning identifies names, NHS numbers, and addresses in free-text fields. Records are automatically redacted or quarantined.
  • Granular Access Controls: Markings and row-level policies ensure users only access data aligned with consent and purpose.
  • Secure Re-Identification: Authorised clinical users may reverse encryption for direct care interventions under strict audit logging.

These include referential integrity validation, statistical monitoring for unexpected data drift, strict null checks on critical clinical fields, and automated alerts for schema changes.   • Lineage & Impact Analysis: Before any code change is deployed, we assess downstream dependencies to understand how dashboards, applications, and reports may be affected. This prevents silent breakages and ensures operational tools remain stable and reliable.
