From On-Premise to the Cloud: A Retail Company's Journey
From On-Premise to the Cloud: A Retail Company's Journey
Migrate the entire infrastructure i.e. the applications and data from the dedicated servers to cloud, for ensuring scalability, reliability, and cost savings.

With digital spreading like a chain reaction, Jet started struggling with their on-premise data center that was incapable of keeping up with their growing business needs
With the ever-rising number of website visitors, the high server loads began to cause poor services performance. This resulted in a significant traffic decline followed by the drop in revenue as fewer consumers could make purchases on the website
The obvious option and challenge was to migrate the entire infrastructure i.e. the applications and data from the dedicated servers to cloud, for ensuring scalability, reliability, and cost savings.
Maintaining legacy technology can become a significant distraction for any organization i.e. diverting time, money, and other resources away from the central mission. Therefore, adhering to the same we began with a thorough analysis of the client’s daily, weekly and monthly workload and the number of requests. The analysis also included a deeper insight into all the tools, apps and services which had any effect on server data streams – from e-commerce to payment platforms. Conclusively, we summed up that scalability issues affected the company’s capability to respond to customer transactions during peak hours whereas network and data center shortcomings restricted application availability. Cloud, to be precise, cloud migration, emerged as an obvious choice as it looked to simplify and streamline the business processes through a true enterprise-level project.
To streamline data and facilitate dynamic, future-ready solutions we formulated a detailed plan of action to migrate the company's critical applications and data to the AWS cloud, while simultaneously ensuring minimal disruption to the business operations. To reach out the set parameters, we employed AWS tools and services to migrate the company's applications and data to the cloud. We used Amazon S3 to store and retrieve data, Amazon EC2 for computing power, Amazon RDS for database management, and AWS CloudFormation to automate the deployment of infrastructure and resources. Additionally, to ensure security and compliance, we implemented AWS security best practices, including configuring firewalls, access controls, and encryption. Conclusively, we set up disaster recovery and backup solutions to ensure business continuity in case of unexpected events.
To ensure that Jet is getting the most out of their cloud investment, VE3 optimized the performance of their applications on AWS by fine-tuning the configurations of AWS resources, such as EC2 instances, RDS databases, and S3 storage buckets. This encompassed adjusting the size and type of instances, optimizing network bandwidth and latency, and implementing caching and load balancing mechanisms. Additionally, we employed AWS CloudWatch to monitor the performance of their AWS resources and identify any bottlenecks. Conclusively, to optimize the governance of their AWS cloud environment we established policies and procedures for resource allocation, usage, and compliance which included role-based access controls, setting up cost allocation and chargeback mechanisms, and complying with regulatory requirements such as GDPR and PCI-DSS.
The platform helped the company slash their infrastructure costs by up to 58%. We also created the container deployment platform to automate updates relating to new project releases/ changes which allowed Jet to forego a dedicated software team and reduce their operational costs by 35%. System users are already reaping the benefits of AWS in terms of flexibility, resource availability, enhanced security, cost savings and beyond. Migrating the entire suite to AWS enabled faster, more responsive processes, which reduced system processing times and allowed more time for the company to complete complex process analyses.
